Dr. Jen’s Favorite Books:

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

This book changed my life! Louise Hay taught me for the first time that our beliefs, thoughts, and words create our experiences. Her book is very empowering in learning to love and accept yourself. I particularly find the list of physical problems, probable cause, and new thought patterns in the back of the book indispensable. I have referred to it for years, and even until this day keep it close at hand for easy insight and thought correction.

The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn

Even though this book was first published in 1925, it showed me how to begin using my mind and words to change my life.

The Magic Power of Intuition by Florence Scovel Shinn, with an Introduction by Louise Hay

I bought this book as a birthday present for myself and it is one of my all-time favorite books containing 10 previously unpublished lessons. It is very easy to read, inspiring, and can point you in the right direction with lessons like “How to Wind Yourself Up Financially,” and “The House that Faith Built.”

The Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles, and Belief by Gregg Braden

I love Gregg Braden’s work. This book caught my attention at the sight of the word “Time” in the title. For most of my life I’ve struggled with the issue of time, commonly feeling like I never get enough done, that I never have enough time to do what I want, and that I am always trying to manage, find or keep time. This book is not really about time in that way, it is so much more than I could have imagined! It confirmed with science how we are all connected, and opened my eyes to how we can heal our lives by living from this understanding. From this perspective, when we embrace this connection concept, time is irrelevant.

Zen and the Art of Happiness by Chris Prentiss

This was an unassuming gem of a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I found myself nodding my head in agreement as I read. In the chapter “Mindful Happiness,” I read “Whatever you are trying to achieve in life, it is essential that you surround yourself with people who believe that what you seek and what you believe in are not only possible but also very probable.” This is so important! Find groups and like-minded people to join that support what you. The author Chris Prentiss and his son are the cofounders of Passages Addiction Cure Center. What is shared in this book is written from experience.

Power, Freedom, and Grace: Living from the Source of Lasting Happiness by Deepak Chopra

This is a beautiful little book that thoughtfully considers our quest for happiness. I especially resonated with how our bondage is from our own boundaries that we’ve set by our beliefs.  Whether consciously or unconsciously, our beliefs are “nothing more than ideas or concepts that we have committed to and accepted as truth.” We must allow ourselves to question and evaluate our own beliefs.

Infinite Possibilities: The Art of Living Your Dreams by Mike Dooley

From the man who teaches “Thoughts become things,” I found the motivation to keep going! Mike Dooley taught me that I could do what I dreamed if only I believed in myself. Today I look back and see the evidence of how I put into practice what I learned. Keep going, there are infinite possibilities!

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: Unlock Your Master Key to Success by Joseph Murphy

A treasure of a book that I stumbled upon in an old independent bookstore. This book was just the motivation that I needed to spur my imagination! Dr. Murphy lays out the process for rising above confusion, misery, melancholy and failure so that you can improve yourself, relationships, finances and health.

She Means Business: Turn Your Ideas into Reality and Become a Wildly Successful Entrepreneur by Carrie Green

I love Carrie Green and the inspiration she provides women all over the world! Her book is a wonderful guide to starting a business. Her online Female Entrepreneur Association offers courses that are very helpful to get your business started and run it like a powerful CEO.

The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel

A small book packed with mind blowing instruction that seems too simple at first. Originally written in 1917 and mailed out as a correspondence course, it contains twenty-four lessons to show someone a common sense approach from feeling healthy to becoming wealthy. I still go back to the pages to practice.
